After a long gloomy winter I visited DSA to check the water level and take a look around. After last years severely low lake (is it a lake with no water?) I'm really hoping the Corp. of Engineers will at least meet the pool guide this year. It seems a long time since the lake has had a season without flood or empty conditions.
While I was there I noticed a number of members boats that need some attention. Some boats have been blown over and others were completely or partially off their trailers. I was able to put some right but since I was alone I didn't want to cause further damage by trying to right some of them.
If you have a boat on the DSA lot you should check on it soon!
Click here for pics of the boats most in need of attention.
Come join us for the DSA annual banquet.
When: Thursday, February 21, 2013, 6pm meet and greet, 7pm dinner.
Where: Jim's Place East at Poplar and Perkins Extended
Come socialize and discuss plans for the upcoming sailing season.
Don't forget there are always exciting door prizes!
Arkabutla Lake is still too low to sail on! While we have had some rain over the last few weeks it has not been enough to raise the level. The current level is available at the following site:
While we have not been able to sail at Arkabutla several members have been traveling to regional regattas to sail. This weekend (June 16-17) several Lightnings are going sail in the Mississippi Valley Districts at Harbor Island Yacht club in Nashville, TN.
We will post additional information about Arkabutla along with other regional sailing options as information is available.
Hopefully we will get some additional rain so we will be able to use Arkabutla soon.
The 2012 sailing season at DSA is just around the corner! This year we will hold club races on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Details about the club racing schedule will be posted soon.
In addition, DSA will host two regattas this season.
Hernando DeSoto Regatta (part of the Southwest Lightning Circuit): May 19-20
Cotton Pickin' Regatta (part of the Southwest Lightning Circuit): September:15-16
Details about these and other DSA events will be posted as they become available.
Hope to see everybody at the lake.
